Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire Group
As you’re looking at this page you’re obviously interested in walking in this area. Why not try out up to 3 of the nearly thirty walks we offer each month?
We have a walking programme to suit most people led by experienced leaders.
Our programme contains regular walks throughout the year from 4 miles upwards and from easy to strenuous. There are rambles accessible by public transport and car rambles. We feature family short walks, themed walks, evening walks, and rambles for the visually impaired.
We are fortunate in having a wealth of walking opportunities nearby. These range from historic towns and villages in the Peak District to attractively restored former industrial areas to the East. Walks cover countryside, farms, parks, and moorland with several Country Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty located close by.
If you’re hesitating perhaps these quotations from members will help you to take the first step:-
- ‘I’ve lived in North East Derbyshire all my life and only realised how little I knew about the area when I joined the Ramblers’.
- ‘I was concerned that I wouldn’t fit in with an established group but my fears were unfounded. Everyone was welcoming’.
- ‘You don’t know how pleased I was to find good numbers of men and women with a range of ages’.
- ‘Without the Ramblers’ I would have been in a sad state. The sociability and exercise literally changed my life for the better’.
